Dashboard Task Timeline
Understand how the timeline prioritizes work and prevents tasks from disappearing.
Views
- Use Focus for one current target: active now first, then upcoming today. Focus only looks at today's scheduled items.
- Focus shows a short why-this-matters rationale and a calm reminder.
- Use the pencil icon in Focus to edit your rationale or calm reminder for that item. Your custom text is saved for that goal step, action step, todo, or personal task.
- For goal-related focus items, use Revert to original in the rationale editor to restore the original generated rationale.
- The Next task button appears only when another focus item exists for today. It skips the current item and moves to the next best candidate.
- When creating a personal task, you can optionally add "Why is this task important?" and that becomes the rationale shown in Focus.
- If nothing is active or upcoming today, Focus shows: "Your day is free."
- Use Today, Tomorrow, Overdue, and Next 7 Days to focus by horizon.
- Use the Not completed tab to review missed tasks and recover quickly.
- Use the plus icon button to add tasks quickly without leaving the timeline view.
- Use the filter button to sort by time, priority high-to-low, priority low-to-high, or title.
- My Tasks and My Goals can be collapsed to reduce visual load.
- Only the most specific item in a chain is surfaced by default.
Priority bars
- Priority uses a 5-bar scale instead of text labels.
- 1 bar is lowest priority and 5 bars is highest priority.
- The bar count and color intensity both show priority level.
- Goal work defaults to 5 bars unless you manually lower it.
- In Focus, equal-priority ties go to goal work over personal tasks.
- Personal work only overrides overlapping goal work when personal priority is strictly higher.
- For personal tasks with same time and same priority, the older created task is shown first.
- For goal ties with same time and same priority, child-first order applies: todo, then action step, then goal step.
Overdue behavior
- Past-due items move to Overdue with a missed-days badge.
- Custom tasks roll forward so they remain visible in Today.
- Completed on-time personal tasks are not marked overdue.
Timers and evidence
- Start timers from the task menu and keep them visible across pages.
- Use completion modals to capture evidence and time spent.
- Use the Did not complete option to log why it was missed, how you felt, the date, and time spent.
- Use Try again on missed items to reschedule immediately or choose a new date and time.
- Daily completion and full-step completion are tracked separately.
